The value of human beings throughout life is at the heart of the Society, Health and Development Diploma through four themes

      Health                Adult Social Care       Children and Young People Services Community Justice

Diploma Level

   
Advanced equivalent in size of up to 3.5 A Levels
Higher equivalent in size to 5/6 GCSE's at grades A* to C
Foundation equivalent in size to 4/5 GCSE's at grades D to G

 

 

 

How is the Diploma made up?

Principal Learning

This enables you to gain specialised knowledge, skills and attributes through work-related learning. You will develop a basic understanding of how services   are organised across this broad sector of employment.  The Diploma will prepare you to apply critical thinking and enquiry by taking part in challenging tasks related to the key themes. You will be able to practise these skills in realistic settings at school, college or in the workplace. You will develop a good understanding of the range of jobs available to you and be able to make informed decisions about your future career.

Generic Learning

This includes Functional Skills - English, Maths and ICT and Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills

Project / Extended Project

You choose the topic and with your tutor's help - you will research a part of the industry which interests you

Additional and Specialist Learning

This provides you with the opportunity to add some additional subjects within your diploma - click here for more information

Work Experience

As part of the diploma you will undertake at least 10 Days work experience
