Manufacturing & Product Design working with Langage Farm

Students at Notre Dame School have designed a new luxury Christmas ice-cream gateau for Langage Farm.
The 14 and 15-year olds were asked by bosses at the farm to design a gateau suitable for sale around Christmas time. It was their first product design project on the diploma, which is  focused on practical learning and collaboration with businesses.
After extensive consumer research the final product was a white forest gateau filled with blackcurrants, clotted cream and white chocolate.
As part of the task, the enterprising students now have to sell the gateau in order to break even. They have already taken orders from staff and students at the school - but would like to make their product available more widely.
Student Shona Hill said: "The gateau is so delicious we'd like all of Plymouth to have a chance to buy it. It is as delicious as any Langage Farm product - but with our own unique twist."
Langage Farm general manager, Paul Winterton, said: "The students have shown real focus on the task. They have taken seriously the need to produce a product that is worthy of Langage Farm and proved just how effectively schools and businesses can work together."

CREATIVE AND MEDIA CONFERENCE A GREAT SUCCESS!

'Take the first step in faith, you don't need to see the whole staircase just take the first step'

The words of Martin Luther King set the scene for the day. Students and staff from across the city gathered in Plymouth University for an exciting day of creative and media workshops. The event, organised jointly by the Faculty of Arts, Plymouth College of Art and the city's Children's Services Department, was introduced by Steve Orchard who provided an exciting introduction to the world of media and music. Throughout the day students hammered metal, took photographs, created sound, and experimented with a range of media. The results will be shown at an exhibition on Wednesday 29th April, The Scott Building - all welcome to the private view at 6.00 p.m.
