The Foundation Diploma is a Level 1 qualification
equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grades D-G

 

You will attend Mount Tamar School for two days a week to cover most of the course (the Functional Skills will be done in your home school).

The Information Technology course is an applied course which aims to prepare you for employment in the IT industry. It involves learninng about how IT companies operate and you will do tasks that apply to the working environment. There is an element of work experience and practical work but there will also be class based activities and written assessments. Building communication, team working and project management skills will be an important part of the course and evidence of these will be collected for assessment.

You will need to complete:

• five Principal Learning Units (PLUs)
• Additional Specialist Learning - OCR Nationals in ICT Level 1
• Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT (at level 1)
• a Project

Progression to a Higher Diploma (Level 2) or apprenticeship would be expected from this course.
